2) National CAPACD Now Accepting Applications for Fall Interns
National CAPACD is seeking undergraduate
or graduate students with a strong interest in community and economic
development, housing, immigration and civil rights issues impacting
low-income Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities to intern in our office.
Interns will have the opportunity to meet community and congressional
leaders, engage in substantive research and writing, attend events,
participate in AAPI social justice networks and learn about AAPIs in
nonprofits and community development.
Interns will work in one or more of the following program areas:
- Policy & Research
– National CAPACD engages in action research and advocacy to
“tell our stories” and influence policy on issues that
affect low-income AAPIs. Interns will research and write reports,
track legislation and help implement advocacy initiatives.
- ACTION Initiative
– This capacity-building program facilitates peer-to-peer
learning exchanges between local organizations that serve low-income
AAPIs. Interns will research and help provide tools and resources
to program participants and facilitate exchanges between community
groups.
- Leadership Development –
National CAPACD cultivates a strong, multi-generational continuum of
active, vocal AAPI leaders by providing scholarships, fellowships,
internships, trainings, and networking opportunities. Interns
will organize events and create informational materials for the
program.
- Community Convenings
– National CAPACD brings together community members to learn from
each other, build sustained alliances and share an economic justice
vision that guides and strengthens our movement. Interns will
assist in organizing for the 8th Annual Convention to be held in Hawaii
as well as other community convenings.
- Membership & Communications
– Interns will outreach to new member organizations, assist with
member organization needs assessments and create informational
materials, brochures, press releases and special reports.
