National CAPACD's 9th Annual Convention

Vision, Voices, Votes: Standing Together for Justice & Equity

National CAPACD is excited to announce our 9th Annual Convention in Anaheim, California! Our 2008 theme, "Vision, Voices, Votes: Standing Together for Justice & Equity," emphasizes what is needed from our communities in this critical year — and the opportunities we have to lead the way as we address the foreclosure crisis facing the nation, promote long-term equitable development policies and influence a crucial presidential election. Now is the time to ensure our voices are heard and our issues are addressed. By tapping into the strength of our voices, leveraging the power of our votes, and defining a national vision, we can improve the lives of thousands of AAPIs by building a more just and equitable society.

Our Convention

National CAPACD's Annual Convention brings together hundreds of community based practitioners, organizers and advocacy agencies in one of the largest gatherings nationwide. By bringing together actively engaged, ethnically and geographically diverse leaders in the community development field, the Convention is an opportunity to create and share a common vision and agenda, and take collective action to strengthen the AAPI community development movement. Our national convention provides an opportunity to:

  • Exchange information, resources and experiences between "established" and "emerging" community organizations in working with growing and diverse AAPI populations.
  • Build new and strengthen existing partnerships between elected officials, educational and research institutions, national intermediaries, government agencies, and other community based organizations.
  • Develop individual skills and organizational capacity in community development workshops led by established neighborhood practitioners, foundations, community organizers, researchers and technical assistance providers.
