Internships

The National Coalition for Asian Pacific American Community Development was founded in 1999 as the first national organization dedicated to the housing and community development needs of Asian American and Pacific Islander populations. National CAPACD seeks to be a powerful voice for the unique community development needs of AAPI communities and to strengthen the capacity of community based organizations to create strong and healthy neighborhoods.

This summer, National CAPACD is offering internships for students interested in community development, finance, mortgage, and economic development. Interns will gain an understanding of the mortgage loan industry and its relation to housing and community development. Additionally, interns will participate in outreach to low-income AAPI communities in these areas. Interns will be placed with banks, corporations, community development financial institutions, credit unions, housing finance agencies, or other relevant community based organizations. These internships are 10 weeks long and are located in 7 states, including Utah. Students accepted to the program will visit Washington DC for a week-long training prior to the commencement of their internship. This program provides students with a $5600 stipend for the 10 weeks along with travel to and from the DC training.

The deadline for applications is Friday, April 28, 2006.
