As individuals and organizations, we are living through a crisis of unprecedented scale. The COVID-19 pandemic is testing our communities in unimaginable ways – AAPI small businesses are experiencing dramatic losses in revenue and many wage earners are without an income, struggling to pay their rents; low-income AAPI families are trying to preserve safety and good health in multigenerational, overcrowded living conditions; vulnerable community members are unable to access basic necessities, including meals and medical supplies, in environments of social isolation and scarce supply; and we are documenting rising discrimination and hate crimes against AAPIs. Across the country, our members are rising to the challenge to meet these community needs with thoughtful and innovative strategies for relief. They are reaching people, businesses, and neighborhoods that will not likely receive equitable public support.
National CAPACD encourages our network to support our member organizations in their efforts. The recently passed Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (“CARES Act”) includes a provision that will allow individuals to deduct an additional $300 for cash contributions to charitable causes – regardless of whether or not they itemize in 2020. For those who are still financially secure, now is the time to give!
Here is a list of funds set up by National CAPACD members:
