National CAPACD is a coalition committed to improving the lives of low- and moderate-income Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AA and NHPI) communities. As a coalition, we connect with and elevate the voices of our growing membership of community-based organizations, as well as other values-aligned nonprofits that advocate for the broader AA and NHPI population. Since our founding in 2000, National CAPACD’s membership has grown from 16 community-based organizations to over 60 across 23 states and the Pacific Islands, and we work with more than 160 community-based organizations in our broader network.
National CAPACD’s coalition comprises our members, community-based organizations that advance community economic development, and our amplifiers, organizations that align with our mission and strengthen our impact through policy, advocacy, research, and capacity-building at broader scales.
National CAPACD members are community-based organizations with a neighborhood or place-based focus, or that serve a defined geographic community. They advance community economic development work—broadly defined to include efforts such as housing, financial capability, small business development, cultural preservation, community organizing, and other locally driven strategies.
Amplifiers are organizations that are aligned with National CAPACD’s mission and vision, but are not engaged in community economic development work and are not based in a specific neighborhood or geographic community. Instead, they work at the state, regional, or national level, advancing policy, advocacy, research, and capacity-building efforts and strategies that strengthen and elevate community-based organizations in AA and NHPI communities. By bringing broader expertise and focusing on wider issues, amplifiers expand the coalition’s reach and impact.
Being in community with all of the members and the National CAPACD staff reminded me of how important this network is to me and to our organization. I am grateful to National CAPACD for creating this welcoming and supportive community.
