First, book a regular room via this link, and then reach out to the Hyatt Regency Long Beach at 562.624.6004, or by email at laura.nocco@hyatt.com to request that your room be an accessible room.
National CAPACD will make every effort to provide reasonable accommodations to presenters and attendees in ways that more seamlessly integrate our commitments to accessibility and inclusion.
We must receive requests for accommodations by Tuesday, July 14, 2026, in order to best work with our site coordinators, vendors, and partners in the planning process. Please note that some services may be available for limited portions of the Convention.
Attendees have access to a quiet or wellness room at the 2026 Building CAPACD Convention. Please visit the Registration Desk to find the room location.
National CAPACD is pleased to offer lactation rooms for attendees during the event. These rooms are equipped with seating and electrical outlets and can be secured by a key lock.
Please visit the Building CAPACD Convention’s Registration Desk for the location of and access to a nursing room or to arrange accommodations if you have any special requirements, such as a need to store expressed milk.
American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters are available at the 2026 Building CAPACD Convention. Attendees who need the service of an ASL interpreter are asked to email their request by Tuesday, July 14, 2026, with the schedule of sessions they will be attending, to events@nationalcapacd.org.
Service animals (as defined by ADA standards) are welcome at the event. Service animals are defined as dogs that are “individually trained to do work or perform tasks for an individual with a disability.” Please reach out to the National CAPACD accessibility team if you have any special requirements.
Emotional support animals (as defined by ADA standards) are welcome in all areas of the event except the food and beverage outlets. Emotional support animals are defined as animals that provide comfort just by being with a person. Because they have not been trained to perform a specific job or task, they do not qualify as service animals under the ADA.
Interpreters are available at the 2026 Building CAPACD Convention. Attendees who need an interpreter are asked to email their request by Tuesday, July 14, 2026, with their schedule to events@nationalcapacd.org. We will do everything possible to review and provide reasonable accommodations for requests submitted at least 14 business days prior to the event, though late requests will be honored to the greatest extent feasible.
The PIEAM (Pacific Island Ethnic Art Museum) mobile tour is accessible for attendees with limited mobility, with minimal walking and Lyft/Uber transportation provided. Both onsite exhibits — El Monte Garment Workers and Rumduol 2025 — are also accessible, located indoors at the Hyatt Regency Long Beach with air-conditioning and minimal walking.
The 2026 Building CAPACD Convention will take place Monday, August 3, 2026 through Wednesday, August 5, 2026.
The 2026 Building CAPACD Convention brings together a diverse and influential audience, including executive directors, senior leaders, program managers, and community development practitioners from National CAPACD’s member organizations. Attendees also include allies and partners from research institutions, corporate and philanthropic funders, elected officials, and representatives from other national organizations, who do a wide range of work including developing low-income housing, housing counseling, financial coaching, community organizing, policy advocacy, placemaking/placekeeping, and neighborhood stabilization. Participants travel from across the country, with strong representation from cities that have the highest concentrations of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AA and NHPI) populations.
We are happy to accommodate attendees who have to bring minor children (under 18) to the Convention.
Minor children do not need to register or pay, but must be accompanied by and under the direct supervision of a registered adult (parent, legal guardian, or designated chaperone) at all times.
The accompanying adult must complete a Consent and Liability Waiver for Minor Participation by Tuesday, June 30, 2026 in order for National CAPACD to finalize meals and other arrangements.
Childcare support: If you need childcare support during the Convention, please check the “Childcare Support” box under the “Additional Support” section on your registration form. We will follow up directly to discuss your child’s age and any specific needs. (This checkbox is optional and only for those requesting childcare)
Childcare is not available on-site at the 2026 Building CAPACD Convention. We will, however, provide a stipend of up to $100 per Convention day to offset Convention-related costs incurred for the care of dependents. Attendees are responsible for arranging their own dependent care.

National CAPACD has been in close contact with Long Beach’s visitors’ bureau and the Hyatt Regency Long Beach regarding immigration enforcement operations in the area and their potential impact on our event. While we have been assured that no conventions or similar events have been impacted by these activities, we encourage each participant to make the decision that feels best for their personal situation. If your organization has travel and safety protocols, we encourage you to follow them. The following resources are available for attendees:
National CAPACD’s first priority is the health and safety of the 2026 Building CAPACD Convention attendees and partners. Our goal is to hold a safe event, recognizing that it is not possible to remove all risks, in particular concerning COVID-19.
All attendees will be asked to participate in and abide by the following safety protocols implemented onsite for all events and activities connected to the 2026 Building CAPACD Convention.
COVID-19 Vaccination Policy
National CAPACD will not require attendees to provide proof of their COVID-19 vaccination. While not required for attendance at the 2026 Building CAPACD Convention, we strongly encourage everyone to get one of the recently approved updated COVID-19 vaccines when available to you. We also recommend everyone receive the flu vaccination, and that those who would benefit, also receive the Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) or any other appropriate respiratory vaccine.
Mask Policy
Masks are encouraged but not required at the 2026 Building CAPACD Convention. Please respect each person’s choice about whether to wear a mask and their personal space. If you’re unsure of someone’s preference, just ask.
This policy is subject to change based on local/state/federal public health guidelines at the time of the event.
Assumption of Risk & Agreement
Under no circumstances shall National CAPACD, its officers, directors, employees, and contractors be liable to you (or anyone claiming through you) for any injury, damages, claims, liabilities, costs, expenses, or other loss of any kind (including death), arising in any manner from COVID-19 or otherwise arising from your travel to/from, attendance at, or participation in, the 2026 Building CAPACD Convention.
Please indicate on the registration form if you have any particular dietary needs or require special assistance. You can also contact National CAPACD at events@nationalcapacd.org.
Inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated. If you witness or are subjected to inappropriate behavior or have any other concerns, notify a National CAPACD staff member at our Registration Desk as soon as possible. Appropriate action will be taken to ensure that the Convention maintains a safe and constructive environment for everyone—free of harassment, aggression, and intimidation.
The consequences of such behavior may include, but are not limited to, the following:
National CAPACD reserves the right to take any or all of these disciplinary actions as deemed necessary for all events. We ask that all National CAPACD staff and attendees be mindful of the National CAPACD Code of Conduct during the 2026 Building CAPACD Convention.
Our 2026 Convention will be held at the Hyatt Regency Long Beach. Learn more here.
We have secured the Hyatt Regency Long Beach as our official Convention hotel to provide the best experience for our attendees.
Booking within our official block guarantees you the best possible room rate and the convenience of being at the heart of all the event activity, staying alongside fellow attendees and speakers.
Your support also helps us to meet our room block commitment, which allows us to avoid costly hotel penalties. This helps us to keep registration fees affordable and invest those savings back into the Convention experience for you.
We recommend booking your room early, as our block at the Hyatt Regency Long Beach is limited and tends to sell out quickly. Once the block is sold out, National CAPACD will provide overflow hotel options for attendees.
The hotel reservation deadline is the date by which you must reserve your room to take advantage of the special hotel room rates negotiated by National CAPACD. After the hotel reservation deadline, you may still be able to reserve a room at the hotel, at their standard rates and contingent on the hotel’s availability.
Check the hotel reader boards or ask the Convention registration staff for the location of the meeting room(s).
The Hyatt Regency Long Beach offers both valet parking and self-parking options. In-and-out privileges are offered to overnight hotel guests only. Please visit the Hyatt Regency Long Beach website for the most up-to-date parking costs.
