AA and NHPI Creative Placemaking Learning Circle

Our AA and NHPI Creative Placemaking Learning Circle brings together organizations from across the country that center culture as a strategy for advancing equitable development in AA and NHPI communities.

The AA and NHPI Creative Placemaking Learning Circle, an initiative of National CAPACD, is funded by the National Endowment for the Arts, the Kresge Foundation, NeighborWorks America, and with in-kind support from ArtPlace America. This initiative was conceived in partnership with Asian Economic Development AssociationChinatown Community Development CenterHawai'i Alliance for Community Based Economic DevelopmentLittle Tokyo Service Center, and Local Initiatives Support Corporation.

The Learning Circle engages over 20 organizations from across the country that center culture as a strategy for advancing equitable development in AA and NHPI communities. Participants have thus far convened in Hilo, Hawai'i, and San Francisco, CA, with one more convening scheduled for St. Paul, Minnesota in 2021. Together, these organizations share their ideas and experiences toward improving their own practice, while also helping to elevate awareness within the creative placemaking field of the unique strategies and values that drive creative placemaking in AA and NHPI communities across the country.

Our Learning Circle has compiled a Vision, Values, and Practice document, which outlines how and why we do what we do, and seeks to articulate the ways in which creative placemaking is different in the AAPI community development context.  Click on the link below to check out that document:
